Hey guys, so for a long time I have been doing my own hair and today I did the unimaginable (to me); wait for it… I braided my own hair! Yes, with my own two hands, two packs of kinky braids, 8 hours of Naija movies down, I was done! This was deserving of a blog post 😉

When it comes to hair Youtube is your friend. There is no tutorial that has not been done, just type on the search bar and let the magic happen. I did crotchet braids and I got my inspiration and tutorial from here. I chose crotchet ‘cause they are quick to do  and also protect (especially my hairline) from the weight of the braids.

The holidays are here! Super excited cause I get to have these cheeky pair with me. Sometimes it can be a bit to crazy, but its always the same funny madness;

” Aunty Patty, am full. ” That was just the first bit lol

Having them around, I have to come up with a list of stuff to keep them busy, so today we had a photo shoot and payment was chewing gum ( not to worry, it was sugar free ) This was such a fun session. They insisted on pocketing cause all the cool people pocket whistle taking picture, ohh and the chewing gum had to be chewed in a certain way to up the cool level.

 

Got their outfit from Tique a Bou kids wear ( all kids wear are on sale ) both “soul & Glory” brands. Since we are in Mombasa this was perfect for them. The sun shines like it was given a pay rise and finding something that look cool and comfortable can be a a hustle. Must admit, the print on the Polo shirt and the wash out on the pants is what caught my eye ohh and the fact that the pants come with belt ( their belts keep doing the disappearing act )

As we all know am tiny, like size 6/8 tiny, but am working on that. 5 days a week at the gym to be precise. By next year February I should be a size 10 UK (fingers crossed) and one you will be able to distinguish between my back and front 😉

Since I started this blog, one thing has been certain, am not a writer. It takes me absolutely forever to come up with the content and when I do, it takes me a centuary to write it down. I get a writers block, but how can that be; am not a writer! Am more of a thinker. I spend hours in my thought, having conversations with oneself. The interesting thing is this happens when am tucked in bed and instead of counting sheep, my brain is clouded with thought! When it comes to picking out an outfit or creating one, a bulb goes on and bang we have a winner. Its like breathing!

I wore the Leopard Print Plunge Bodysuit with the Peplum Midi Skirt and accessorized it with the Metal Gold Fringe Necklace and skull studded clutch. I loved the end result!

Hey guys, so today’s outfit got me thinking. Let me start from the top… I showered, brushed my teeth and when it came to choosing my outfit I was swamped for ideas. So I played around with what I had and I must say I was really happy with what I came up with, it made me happy!

Walked out of my room and my nephew, 15 years, was in the dinning room doing some work and the first thing I heard was “Yurk” followed by a giggle. So I asked him what was giving him the mixed emotions and he goes like ” Your outfit, I hate it, it does not look good!” The small brother follows with ” If you go out like that people will laugh at you!”

I got self conscious and quickly ran to the bedroom to change, saw a reflection of myself and I went back to the mirror and took five minutes staring at my miserable self! In the five minutes I was standing there, I had a moment of self reflection, I choose this outfit because I liked the look. What does it matter if others don’t understand sense of fashion. Why am I so quick to please others, rather than sticking to what pleases me? Even if I change, there will be something with the next outfit that someone somewhere wont like, then what?

We are too quick to please others and we forget to do what makes us happy. People are different, meaning we can never please them all, whether its with what we wear, how we cook, how we talk, walk, smile, do make-up, the list is endless. I say, do what YOU love, do what makes YOU happy and forget what others have to say!
